Terms & Conditions
These terms explain how repair authorization, estimates, data responsibility, parts, mail-in service, collection and other service conditions work at Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist.
Customer Data & Data-Loss Disclaimer
Customer data is the customer's responsibility. Before submitting any Mac, storage device, or other equipment for diagnosis, repair, upgrade, maintenance, or other service, the customer is responsible for maintaining a current backup of all important files and data whenever a backup is possible.
Although Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist takes reasonable care when handling customer equipment, data preservation cannot be guaranteed. Data may already be damaged, corrupted, inaccessible, or at risk because of hardware failure, storage-device failure, liquid damage, electrical damage, software problems, file-system corruption, previous repair attempts, or other conditions outside our control. Data loss or corruption may also occur during diagnosis, testing, repair, upgrade, restoration, operating-system work, or other service procedures.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist is not responsible or liable for the loss, corruption, alteration, deletion, or inaccessibility of customer data arising in connection with diagnosis, repair, testing, maintenance, upgrade, restoration, or other service performed on customer equipment.
If your data is important and you do not have a current backup, tell us before any repair or diagnostic work begins. We can discuss available backup or data recovery options before proceeding with the requested repair.
Submitting equipment for service confirms that the customer understands that repair and diagnostic work can involve a risk of data loss and that the customer has either backed up important data or accepts that risk, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Important — Data Backup & Data Loss
Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OF DATA, SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS, SETTINGS, PASSWORDS OR PERSONAL FILES THAT MAY OCCUR BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE REPAIR PROCESS, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
Customers are strongly encouraged to maintain a current backup before submitting a device for service. If data is your highest priority, tell us before repair work begins.
By authorizing service, leaving a device with us, or shipping a device to us for repair, you acknowledge these Terms & Conditions and the applicable Warranty & Repair Policies. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable law.
1. Scope of Service
Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist specializes in Apple Mac computers. We do not repair iPhone, iPad, Windows PCs or Android devices. Repair work is performed in Edmonton and is not outsourced.
2. Estimates & Repair Authorization
We provide a free estimate before chargeable repair work begins. The estimate is based on the information reasonably available during assessment. If additional faults or a change in scope is discovered, we will contact you and obtain approval before performing additional chargeable work.
We will never perform additional chargeable repair work without your approval.
3. Repair Risks & Existing Conditions
Electronic repair involves devices that may already have failing components, liquid damage, corrosion, physical damage, previous repairs or other hidden faults. We use professional repair practices and reasonable care, but some devices may deteriorate or reveal additional faults during diagnosis or repair because of their pre-existing condition. By authorizing service, you acknowledge these inherent risks.
4. Issue(s) Covered by the Work Order
The approved repair applies to the problem(s) identified in the work order or estimate. Any separate or unrelated issue discovered during service is outside the original scope and will be discussed with you before additional chargeable work is performed.
5. Repairability
Although we successfully repair many complex Mac faults, not every device can be repaired. A repair may not be technically feasible, economically practical or capable of meeting our reliability standards. If we determine that a dependable, long-term repair cannot be achieved, we will explain the outcome and discuss the available options.
6. No Fix • No Fee
If we cannot complete the agreed repair, no repair charge applies for that unsuccessful repair. This does not include separately approved services, data-recovery work, parts or other costs specifically agreed with you. For mail-in devices, return shipping remains the customer's responsibility when applicable.
7. Warranty
Eligible repairs include a 3-month warranty covering the specific issue repaired by us, subject to the conditions and exclusions in our Warranty & Repair Policies. The warranty does not cover unrelated faults, new damage or conditions outside the original repair.
8. Screen Replacement
Replacement screens are excluded from our voluntary 3-month repair warranty because display assemblies are fragile and can be damaged by impact, pressure, twisting, liquid or handling after service. Every replacement display is inspected and tested before the Mac is returned. This term does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
9. Data, Backup & Data Recovery
Customers are responsible for backing up important data whenever possible before service. Data backup and data recovery may be available as separate services. Data recovery is performed on a best-effort basis and cannot be guaranteed. We are not responsible for data loss to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
10. Passwords & Testing
If login access is reasonably required to verify a repair, we may ask for a temporary password or other access information. It will be used only as needed for testing or an approved service. Customers may change their password before or after service if preferred.
11. Replaced Parts
Unless otherwise agreed in writing before repair begins, parts removed during an approved repair become the property of Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist and may be retained for testing, warranty handling, recycling or responsible disposal.
12. Turnaround Time
Most repairs are completed within 24–48 hours, but this is an estimate rather than a guarantee. Complex board faults, liquid damage, parts availability, data recovery, testing or circumstances outside our control may require additional time.
13. Mail-In Repair
Customers must obtain a Job ID and follow our Mail-In Repair instructions before shipping. Do not mail an iMac. Do not send only a logic board unless specifically requested. Do not send a charger, original Apple retail box or unrelated accessories unless we ask for them.
If a mail-in repair is declined or the device cannot be repaired and you want it returned, you are responsible for providing a prepaid return shipping label or paying the applicable return-shipping cost.
14. Shipping Risk
Customers are responsible for secure packaging and for choosing an appropriate carrier and shipping service when sending a device to us. Keep tracking information and consider suitable shipment protection. We are not responsible for loss or damage occurring while the device is in the custody of a third-party carrier, except to the extent required by applicable law.
15. Payment
Payment is due when the approved repair is complete unless another arrangement is agreed in writing. Canada-wide mail-in repair is paid by Interac e-Transfer unless another method is agreed in advance.
16. Collection, Storage & Unclaimed Devices
Please collect your device or arrange return shipping within 15 days after we notify you that it is ready. After 15 days, reasonable storage charges may apply.
A device that remains unclaimed for more than 30 days after reasonable notification attempts may be treated as unclaimed. Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist may take further steps to recover unpaid repair, storage or handling amounts and deal with the unclaimed property only as permitted by applicable Alberta law. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking further action.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Edmonton Apple Mac & iMac Repair Specialist is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from a repair, inability to repair, delay, pre-existing defect, third-party shipping issue or loss of data. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
18. Customer Information
You agree to provide accurate contact information and a reasonable description of the problem. Please tell us about previous repair attempts, liquid exposure, important data-recovery requirements or other facts that may affect diagnosis.
19. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Mandatory consumer protections continue to apply where required by law.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version applicable to a repair is the version presented or made available when the service is authorized, unless a later change is required by law or agreed with the customer.
